2027 TMA Leadership College Application
  • Before you begin the application, please review the 2026-27 Class Schedule and ensure you have the following:

    • Two letters of reference from colleagues (fellow physicians or other care team members) that speak to your leadership performance or potential and commitment to continued development;

    • A current CV; and

    • A recent professional photograph or headshot.
  • Program Eligibility

    The TMA Leadership College is limited to TMA members who are young physicians, defined as those in their first eight years of practice following residency and/or fellowship or under the age of 40.

  •  -

    • Leadership Experience in Organized Medicine 
    • Please list up to six organized medicine activities (TMA, AMA, county medical society, or specialty society) in which you have participated, particularly noting if you held a leadership position. (e.g. TMA section member, committee chair, American Medical Association delegate, County Medical Society officer, etc.)

      Note: Please answer as comprehensively as possible, even if the information is included in your CV. If you have not previously participated in organized medicine at the county, state, or national levels, please enter "N/A" in the required fields.

    • Leadership Experience in the Community 
    • Please list up to four community or volunteer organizations in which you have participated in the last 8 years, noting any leadership positions held. (e.g. Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Junior League, medical mission work, MSF, nonprofit board, etc.)

      Note: Please answer as comprehensively as possible, even if the information is included in your CV. If you have not previously served/volunteered for a community organization, please enter "N/A" in the required fields.

    • Clinical Leadership Experience 
    • Please list up to six clinical leadership positions in which you currently serve or have previously served within the last 8 years (e.g. team leader, committee chair, department liaison, board membership, etc)

      Note: Please answer as comprehensively as possible, even if the information is included in your CV. If you have not previously served in a clinical leadership role, please enter "N/A" in the required fields.

    • Previous Leadership Training

    • As a potential future TMA leader, please select the top three boards, councils, or committees you'd be most interested in and/or most suited to serving on. Please note that TMALC participants/graduates are not guaranteed any BCC appointments.

  • Please submit letters of recommendation from two physicians or other members of your team familiar with your goals and leadership experience.

    Note: If your reference would prefer to email their recommendation directly to the program, please upload a placeholder file, fill in their name, and have them email the letter directly to melanie.fossett@texmed.org.

  • If selected as a Leadership College participant, I agree to

    • attend all required educational and networking activities as specified in the program schedule;
    • complete required reading, projects, and/or other work as assigned;
    • devote the time necessary to fully participate in the program - arriving promptly, limiting multi-tasking and other distractions, and staying for the duration for each in-person or virtual session;
    • inform Leadership College staff as soon as possible of any scheduling conflicts due to unforseen or extenuating circumstances;
    • grant TMA permission to use my image and name for TMA advertising and publicity purposes.
