  • 2026 Proposed LGBTQ Health Section Resolutions - Member Comments

  • Texas’s Commitment to Accredited Medical School, Residency, and Fellowship Medical Education

  • RESOLVED, the TMA should advocate for education of our medical students, residents, and fellows in line with the ACGME and LCME guidelines.


    RESOLVED, the TMA should help physician educators to advocate that any teachings or instructions consistent with ACGME and LCME guidelines should not be considered termination offenses.

    RESOLVED, the TMA should help physicians be in line with Medicare and Medicaid incentives regarding social determinants of health to optimize hospital and practice billing and thus preserving the viability of independent practice, rural and underserved hospital economics.

  • Improving Efficiency of the House of Delegates (HOD) Business Year to Year

  • RESOLVED, previously house policy can only be considered or edited annually for the first two years. Thereafter, challenges to accepted policy can be challenged edited on an every other year basis unless brought by a caucus, council, section, committee, or the board of trustees.

    RESOLVED, resolutions that have previously failed can only be resubmitted every other year unless substantive edits occurred or brought by a caucus, council, section, committee, or the board of trustees.

    RESOLVED, this proposed new process could change the fabric of the HOD processes and should be discussed and action taken by the Council of
    Constitution and Bylaws by Texmed 2027.

  • Section Representation on the Council of Legislation

  • RESOLVED, each section shall be able to elect or appoint a section member to represent the section on the Council of Legislation.

  • No Retaliation Policy for Complaints to the Board of Counselors for Sexual Harassment

  • RESOLVED, that the Texas Medical Association protect individuals that file complaints of sexual harassment as defined under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to the Board of Counselors from retaliation from any person or group within the Texas Medical Association (directive to take action). The complainant should have the ability to determine when and if retaliation is occurring.

  • Support for a Statewide Care Coordination Platform to Enhance Patient Outcomes and Health System Efficiency

  • RESOLVED, that the Texas Medical Association support the development, implementation, and funding of a statewide care coordination platform that enables physicians to access real-time, longitudinal patient information from across all care and community settings; and be it further

    RESOLVED, that the Texas Medical Association advocate for policies that facilitate interoperability and collaboration among health care providers, public health agencies, and community-based organizations to enhance care transitions, reduce hospital readmissions, and improve patient outcomes; and be it further

    RESOLVED, that the Texas Medical Association encourages use of such platforms to support performance on HEDIS and NCǪA quality measures and improve the health and well-being of all Texans.
